Wisconsin’s Story: Youth with Promise

Daviantae was a junior in high school when he joined Wisconsin Promise. Now he’s a junior in college, studying the fine arts.

Two years ago he didn’t think he’d be here. He struggles with sickle cell disease and pain, but he doesn’t let anything stop him from reaching his education and work goals.

With support from Wisconsin Promise, he worked at the Boys and Girls Club of Milwaukee and became the go-to lab monitor and tutor at his college. Daviantae even saved enough money to buy his own car, and now he's self-reliant.

Daviantae is a youth with Promise, with a vision to pursue and the tools to make it happen.

We always knew our Promise youth and their families were awesome. Now you can see why.

We all have our dreams. When you’ve been fighting your whole life just to have your basic needs met, it’s really hard to realize those dreams and be able to think that there’s a step past that. But Wisconsin Promise youth and their families have taken that step, and beyond.

Promise is proud to have supported Wisconsin youth and their families as they worked toward and reached their goals for education, employment, and financial independence. We recognize the many educators and employers who have been and continue to be a part of their journey. Meet some them and hear for yourself where their Wisconsin Promise journey has taken them. We always knew they were awesome. Now you can see why.
